Posted on January 27th, 2012 by Roy Shaw

Hello Everyone!

On this episode of RoyOnRescue, Roy answers a question that came in some time ago about how to do CPR if the person has an object imbedded in their chest.  Roy sheds some light on the simple yet affective way to rescue without causing harm to yourself and to the patient.  If you’ve ever wondered what to do if a person had a knife in the chest and was in cardiac arrest, you’ll want to watch this video blog.

  1. Question… By doing chest compressions with a knife in the chest don’t you run the risk of puncturing something that may not yet be punctured? eg… the knife is in the left pectoral and might directly puncture the heart with chest compressions…

  2. Hi Roy,
How would you perform CPR on a person who had recent by-pass heart surgery? My father had triple by-pass surgery about 5 months ago.

    Thank you,
    Renea

  3. Very informative
